Rewards offered for tips in burglary, stolen items
During the day of Monay, Jan. 14, someone broke out a bedroom window at 406 Omega. They rifled through the house, leaving clothing scattered about, and stole a DVD player, digital camera and diamond necklace. The total value is $400, according to El Campo Police Officer Cindy Howell, who is also Crime Stoppers coordinator. Sgt. Gary Williamson is investigating the case. In an incident on Feb. 3, thieves stole a man's truck, which contained guns, fishing gear and other items. A couple days later, three El Campo teens were arrested in that crime, with a fourth facing charges. Police recovered the vehicle and some of the guns, but need help finding the remaining items. "The vehicle and a few of the guns have been recovered, and arrests have been made," Howell said. "However, Lt. Terry Stanphill, who is the investigator for this case, is trying to locate any of the property you may have information about." Among the items not recovered are: • A .283 Winchester rifle with scope; • A Remington. 22 rifle; and • Some fishing gear. Those items are worth about $600. If you have information on the suspects in the burglary on Omega Street, or on the stolen guns and fishing gear, or other facts about either of these cases, please call West Wharton County Crime Stoppers at 543-TIPS (543-8477). Callers and do not have to give their names to qualify for a reward. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and grand jury indictment of wanted felons. |
