Relay for Life team honors cancer survivors

The Cancer Convicts Relay For Life team prepared a dinner party for their adopted survivors and guests Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Elks Lodge.

Texas Valentine was the theme for the party. The meal consisted of chicken spaghetti, green beans, salad, garlic bread and tea. Team members also supplied appetizers and desserts.

Wedge Well Services donated door prizes. Kaye Hubenak welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming even with the threat of bad weather approaching.

Nancy Fenner led the blessing of the meal.

After dinner, guests enjoyed visiting, playing bunko, dominoes and Center Left Right.

The evening ended with more prizes distributed. A red rose was given to each survivor as they left.

Wharton County Relay For Life will be held at Wharton High School Stadium in October.
