Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Helfer of La Vernia announce the birth of their first child, a son named Garrett Wesley Helfer. The baby was born at 7:24 p.m., Feb. 11, 2008 at Guadalupe Regional Hospital in Seguin weighing 7 pounds, 11 ounces.

Maternal grandparents are Cynthia Coody of Victoria and the late Michael Wrobliski of Wharton. Paternal grandparents are Weldon and Kathleen Helfer of El Campo.

Maternal great-grandparents are Oscar McClure and the late Agnes McClure of El Campo and the late Raymond and Edna Wrobliski of Rosenberg. Paternal greatgrandparents are Rudolph and Doris Otradovsky of El Campo and the late Wesley and Ineta Helfer of Wharton.

The mother is the former Melissa Ann Wrobliski.

Naomi Metoyer

Nicco and Naomi Metoyer of El Campo announce the birth of their third child, a daughter named Naomi Niccole Metoyer. The baby was born at 10:02 a.m., Feb. 14, 2008 at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton, weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces.

She is welcomed home by a brother and sister, Gregory Alan Metoyer, age 3; and Ariana Bre Metoyer, age 20 months.

Maternal grandparents are Elizabeth Vargas and Fernando R. Espinoza, both of El Campo. Paternal grandmother is Lou Anna Fontenot of Houston.

The mother is the former Naomi Espinosa.

Danielle Ortiz

Clint and Michele Ortiz of El Campo announce the birth of their fourth child, a daughter named Danielle Olivia Ortiz. The baby was born at 7:32 p.m., Feb. 14, 2008, weighing 6 pounds, 12 ounces.

She is welcomed home by two brothers and a sister, Aaron, age 9; Elizabeth, age 6; and Andrew, age 2.

Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jesus Acuña Sr. of El Campo. Paternal grandparents are Sandy Ortiz of El Campo and William Ortiz Sr.

Great-grandparents are Enedina Espinoza of El Campo, Robert Espinoza Sr. of New Mexico, Antonia Acuña of Mathis, the late Guadalupe Acuña, the late Mr. and Mrs. Arturo Gutierrez and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jesus Ortiz.

The mother is the former Michele Acuña.

Krysten Hlavaty

Krysten Jane Hlavaty, infant daughter of David and Lara Hlavaty of Houston, was baptized at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cuero. The Rev. Kirby Bubela performed the ceremony. Krysten's godparents are Nancy Fucik, Philip Hlavaty and Gary Hlavaty.

A dinner and reception was hosted by Krysten's parents at Rosie's Mexican Restaurant in Cuero. The guests were able to choose an entree of their choice from the menu. Before the meal, a blessing was said by the Rev. Hlavaty.

Special guests were the Rev. Kirby Hlavaty, cousin; Zachary Johnson, brother; Peter and Elisabeth Englefield of San Antonio, maternal grandparents; A.J. and Jo Ann Hlavaty of El Campo, paternal grandparents; her godparents, Ian and Annette Englefield, and David and Nancy Fucik, uncles and aunts; Emma and Bryne Englefield, and Jessica and Allison Fucik, cousins; and Amy Bressler, fiancee of Philip Hlavaty.
