AARP listens to special program

Members of the AARP Chapter 1419 met Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the El Campo Library. Kim Hadley from Crossroads Home Health was present to take members' blood pressure as they arrived.

Frances Skuca and Eunice Pfeffer were the birthday honorees. Visitors were Kathryn Drapela and Connie Carter. Frances Arrambide was welcomed as a new member.

After the covered-dish luncheon, President Allen Collins called the meeting to order. Margaret Smidt led the group in the pledge to the United States flag. Program Chairman Lillian Hansen introduced guest speaker Marilyn Sebesta who presented a program about the importance and evolution of aprons and bonnets throughout the ages. Several members and visitors brought aprons and bonnets and related stories about their particular apron or bonnet.

After the program, a reminder was given about the primary elections on March 4.

The program for March 12 will be given by Crossroads Home Health on home safety.

Anyone more than 50 years of age is invited to join AARP.

The organization meets on the second Wednesday of each month at the El Campo Library for a covered dish luncheon and program.
