Scholastic Book Fair At Hutchins

Hutchins Elementary School hosts a Scholastic Book Fair Friday, Feb. 22 and Monday, Feb. 25 through Thursday, Feb. 28 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. each day. On Feb. 28 the book fair hours will be extended until 6 p.m.

Youth Host Bake Sale At Wal-Mart Progressive Missionary Baptist Church youth will host a bake sale at Wal-Mart today beginning at 9 a.m.

Christian Youth Community Night Christian Youth Community Night is hosted by Bible Truth Church and STAND Youth today from 7-11 p.m. for ages 12 and up at the Boys & Girls Club. Come for worship, singing, testimonies, snacks and more. All churches and youth are welcome.

Turkey Shoot Memorial Fundraiser A turkey shoot for James (C-Rat) Price to go towards a memorial scholarship fund for the advancement of a 2008 graduating senior(s) is today at Dorothy's Cowboy Country Corner in Midfield. Barbecue plates are $6 and serving starts at 11 a.m. Turkey shoot starts at 1 p.m.

BBQ/Live Auction Benefits Williamson A benefit barbecue dinner and live auction for Garett Williamson is 4:30-6:30 p.m. today at the Louise Fire Station. He is the son of Zach and Libby Williamson. Plates are $7.50 for beef and sausage, pinto beans, buttered potatoes, pickles, onions and bread. St. Philip Mexican Fiesta Dinner/Dance St. Philip Catholic School sponsors a Mexican Fiesta dinner and dance featuring The Triumphs today at the El Campo Civic Center. Tickets are $35 per person. Scandinavian Pancake Supper First Lutheran Church hosts a Scandinavian Pancake Supper Sunday, Feb. 24 from 5-7 p.m. at 304 Oscar for a freewill offering with matching funds from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Danish aebleskiver, Norwegian pankaker, Swedish pankaka, American pancakes, sausage, cookies, rosettes and fruit deserts will be served.

Domino Tournament in Wharton Wharton KC hosts its 28th Annual Straight Domino Tournament Sunday, Feb. 24 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2820 N. Fulton in Wharton. Registration is from 8-9 a.m. Cost is $12.50 per person. Prizes will be awarded for the first four places. Food and drinks will be available. Proceeds will go toward scholarships and other charitable causes. Public invited.

Free Swim During ECAC Open House The El Campo Aquatic Center holds a public open house Thursday, Feb. 28 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., with no charge for admission. A water aerobics class will be held during the open house, and refreshments will be served. Facility manager Tami West reminds members this would be a perfect time to renew memberships, and to bring a friend. ECAC: 543-1468.

EC Lions Host Hamburger Supper El Campo Lions Club hamburger supper is Thursday, Feb. 28 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Alamo Park. Plates are $6.50. Tickets available at Gene's Wrecker Service, FCEC, Rice Farmers Coop, E.A. Collins and Superior Motor Parts. Proceeds go to all the youth organizations the El Campo Lions help support.

WCYF Scholarship Applications Available Attention graduating seniors! The Wharton County Youth Fair 2008 Scholarship applications are now available from your high school counselor. The applications will also be available for students to download from the WCYF Web site, whartoncountyyouthfair.org. Applications must be returned to the counselor's office on or before the deadline, which is Friday, Feb. 29. Applications will then be submitted to the Scholarship Committee for review, and applicants notified by mail of their interview time. Fair Office: 979-677-3350.

ARC Host Lifeguard Training Classes The Rio Colorado Chapter of the American Red Cross hosts the following health and safety courses: Lifeguard Training-Prerequisites, a 32-hour course that teaches the skills and knowledge needed for lifeguards, including CPR-For the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Skills. Location is Bay City High School Pool, 2624 16th St., Bay City on March 1 from 8:30 a.m. till noon, March 2 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and March 8-9 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. The course fee is $175 which includes all materials. Relay For Life Needs Short Stories The Relay For Life "Life Savers" are requesting short stories about individuals lives. Send your stories to dmikeska@ecmh.org or mail to El Campo Memorial Hospital, 303 Sandy Corner Road, El Campo, TX 77437. Simply write one page or less about life long ago, growing up, special times, special remembrances, etc. This does not have to be a long, detailed story - short and simple will work. Stories will be published in booklets and sold as a Relay For Life fundraiser benefiting cancer survivors. Include your name, address and phone number on all stories submitted.

Veterans Service Officer Hours The office of Wharton County Veterans Service Officer Harvey H. Stelzel Jr. is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays through Feb. 27. Office hours are 7:30 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. The office is located at 1017 N. Alabama Road in Wharton. Phone 532-1311.

5th and 6th Graders Special Event Parents of 5th and 6th graders and their sons and/or daughters are invited to participate in a special upcoming event called Created by God, Feb. 29-March 1 at the First United Methodist Church. Created by God is a study of human sexuality with a Christian foundation.

Seniors/Parents Complete FAFSA Form There will be a representative from WCJC's guidance office available Tuesday, March 4 and 11 to answer questions and offer help to seniors and their parents in completing the FAFSA form.
