COURT REPORTS

Allegations of hurting the elderly as well as accusations of drunken driving will have several people facing felony trials following February deliberations of the Wharton County Grand Jury. All of those indicted by the grand jury remain innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The indictment is a citizen jury ruling that a prosecutor has enough evidence to proceed with felony level charges.

Those indicted include:

• Roy Lynn Campbell Jr., 46, of 710 N. Mechanic in El Campo for injury to the elderly. He allegedly hurt an elderly woman by shoving her on Oct. 1. Campbell has a prior felony conviction for theft.

• Gregorio Guerrero Castillo, 39, of 206 N. Ford in Ganado for driving while intoxicated third or more offense. He allegedly drove drunk on Jan. 17.

Castillo has two prior misdemeanor convictions for DWI as well as two felony convictions for possession of a controlled substance.

• Felipe Noe Contreras Jr., 19, of 4629 Mt. Vernon in Corpus Christi for possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly had less than one gram of cocaine on June 17.

• Scottie Ray Cunningham, 26, of 1015 Briar Lane in El Campo for robbery. He allegedly grabbed a man around the neck while attempting to steal from him on Oct. 21, 2007.
