Rod family does well in S.A. Show
 | | Contributed Photo Grand Champion At the 2008 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, Shelby Rod of El Campo won the Youth Haltered Longhorn Steer Class Grand Champion honor with her longhorn named OL Turbo's Tinkle. Rod is a member of the El Campo FFA Chapter and a member of the Wharton 4-H. She plans to attend Texas A&M University and study maritime or chemical engineering. The San Antonio Livestock Show is the largest junior livestock show in the nation and has committed more than $79 million to youth education since 1984. |

Shelby, Gregory and Cydni Rod exhibited their Texas Longhorns this past week at the San Antonio Livestock Show & Rodeo held at the AT&T Complex. The Rod children currently have 17 head of Texas Longhorns in their show string ranging from sixmonths to three years of age.
With only eight animals entered in the San Antonio show, they had three class champions, two second place winners and two third place winners. Their bred heiferQRFanfaretook Grand Champion Female of the show while their steer Turbo' Tinkle won Grand Champion Steer of the show.
Shelby Rod also placed first in senior showmanship with Gregory Rod placing second in the teen division.
The Rod family will travel to Fort Worth the weekend of February 22-24 for the Autobaun Classic where they will compete for $50,000 in scholarships.
