City Arrests Alcohol, drugs

Albert Mendez Jr., 35, of 507 E. Norris was arrested at 11:56 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 on charges of driving while intoxicated - third or more, possession of a controlled substance, unrestrained child under age 2 and no driver's license, an Austin Pardon and Parole Board warrant for parole violation, three warrants for no driver's license and warrants for no seat belt, speeding, assault threatening bodily injury, possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance and public intoxication.

El Campo police spotted his vehicle stopped in the middle of a roadway and investigated. The officer allegedly found crack cocaine in the vehicle.

Mendez was transferred to Wharton County Jail the next day and held without bond as of 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25.

Rusty Allen Winzenried, 20, of 636 CR 390 in El Campo was arrested at 9:19 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and no driver's license - SR suspension - after being stopped for failure to signal a lane change. He was transferred to the Wharton County Jail and released at 4:30 p.m. the next day on $11,000 bond.

A 16-year-old El Campo boy was arrested at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 on charges of minor driving under the influence of alcohol, minor in possession of tobacco and running a stop sign. He was released to the custody of a relative the same day.

Michael Keith Cash, 17, of 123 Seventh in Midfield was arrested at 8:44 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 on charges of minor driving under the influence of alcohol, minor in possession of an alcoholic beverage, minor in possession of tobacco and no driver's license and cited for open alcohol container in a motor vehicle after being stopped for no front license plate. He remained in custody at presstime.

Property

Larry Thomas Walton, 40, of 1022 Otell was arrested at 11:34 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 on four warrants for issuance of a bad check, after being stopped for having too many white lights on the front of his vehicle. He was released the next day after paying $1,450.80 in fines.

Angel Renee Bundali, 24, of 1807 Ave. C was arrested at 9:47 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25 on a Wharton County warrant for criminal mischief and a charge of theft after allegedly shoplifting a flat screen television from Wal-Mart Supercenter, 3413 West Loop, putting it in a baby stroller and walking out of the store with a child in tow. He remained in custody at presstime.

Raymond Lee Carroll Jr., 39, of 612 Lundy Ave. was arrested at 12:31 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 on two warrants for issuance of a bad check. He remained in custody at presstime.

Violence, weapons

Crescencio Juarez Ramirez, 43, of North Wharton Street in El Campo was arrested at 12:52 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22 on a charge of burglary of a habitation after allegedly beating on a friend's window while she was sleeping, demanding to be let into her house. He allegedly broke out the window and climbed inside striking the woman before she fled. He was transferred to county jail the same day, and released at 7 p.m.

Melvin Monroe Brigham, 50, of Houston was arrested by Houston Police at 7:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22 on an El Campo warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. He remained in custody at presstime.

Rene Gonzales Jr., 27, of 304 Palm was arrested at 9:19 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 on warrants for speeding and no insurance and two warrants for failure to appear. He was released the same day on $1,543.12 bond.

Jose Ascencio Martinez-Lopez, 28, of 1605 Bravo was arrested at 10:04 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25 on two warrants for failure to appear and warrants for driving while license invalid or revoked, no insurance, expired registration, public intoxication and open alcohol container in a motor vehicle. He remained in custody at presstime.

County Incidents Property

Anthony Fowler of Ganado reported a burglary at 1108 First in Louise between Feb. 10 and Feb. 17. Vandals broke out six windows worth $1,000 by throwing ceramic tiles at them.

County Jail Bookings Alcohol, drugs

Jesse Garcia, 20, of 1703 Olivia was booked Friday, Feb. 22 for driving while intoxicated and striking a fixture. He was held as of 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25.

Rodolfo Ozuna, 17, of 202 West Loop was booked at 12:04 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and minor in possession of tobacco. He was released at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25 on $3,500 bond.

Douglas Kenneth Leroy, 17, of 332 Meadow View was booked at 12:04 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and minor in possession of tobacco. He was released the next day on $3,500 bond.

Joshua Max Quebe, 25, of Louise was booked at 4 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 for driving while intoxicated. He was released at 11:15 a.m. the same day on $2,500 bond.

Property

Mary Monserat Lozano, 20, of 2608 Benchmark was booked Friday, Feb. 22 on a theft by check warrant. She was released at 4 p.m. the same day.

Bobby Lee Bernal, 33, of 413 E. Correll was booked Friday, Feb. 22 for two counts of theft by check and eight counts of issuing a bad check. He was held on $4,700 bond as of 1 p.m. Monday.

Other

Pedro Gonzales, 60, of 3338 RR 422 in Danevang was booked at 6:46 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 for criminal trespass, evading arrest and public intoxication. He was held on $2,500 bond as of 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25.

Laura Kay Baker, 22, of 505 E. West was booked Friday, Feb. 22 for injury to a child (conviction). She was held as of 1 p.m. Monday.
