Girls host EC golf tournament

      The Lady 'Birds took to El Campo Country Club Monday as they hosted their annual golf tournament. Head Coach James Harp said he was pleased with the number of golfers that showed up for the event and glad the sun was shining on the course.

Bard's state showing one of best
      El Campo's Meredith Bard met Austin with a strong showing in the state swimming championships Friday and Saturday. Bard entered the meet seeded 15 out of 16 swimmers in the 50- yard freestyle event with a 25.79 time. A great showing in Friday's preliminar- ies moved her ranking up considerably.

Lady 'Birds fare well in tournament
      The Lady 'Birds made a 3-1-1 run in their own softball tournament. Rain delayed Thursday's start to the event and only allowed for two games that day. Teams crammed in games for the remainder of the tournament on Friday and Saturday.

      The Ricebirds competed in their first track meet Saturday and with a few members out, gave a decent performance in the Blackcat Relays at Bay City.Head Coach Royce Johnson said he combined boys of all levels to field a team for the meet.

      Samantha Zabodyn watchers her shot sail after a nice shot off the tee. Referred to as a leader by Head Coach James Harp, Zabodyn finished 12 in the tournament and second among El Campo's golfers.
