Youth & adults being sought for summer camp Do something different with your summer. The Texas Brigades is seeking students ages 13-17 with curiosity and enthusiasm about wildlife, habitat and conservation. Each Texas Brigade camp is a five-day program focusing on one of four educational curriculums: Bobwhite Brigade (quail), Buckskin Brigade (deer), Feathered Forces (quail and turkey) and Bass Brigade. The Texas Brigades' mission is to empower high school youth with the necessary skills and knowledge in wildlife and fisheries, habitat conservation, land and water stewardship, team-building, communication and leadership to become ambassadors for conservation in order to ensure a sustained wildlife and fisheries legacy for future generations. Six camps take place this year at locations across Texas: • Rolling Plains Bobwhite Brigade, near Coleman, June 14-18 • South Texas Bobwhite Brigade, near Pleasanton, June 22-26 • Bass Brigade, Lake Buchanan, Marble Falls, July 7-11 • South Texas Buckskin Brigade, Albany, July 13-17 • North Texas Buckskin Brigade, Carrizo Springs, July 20-24 • East Texas Feathered Forces Brigade, Lufkin, July 27-31 Each camp consists of intense, interactive, fun learning from some of the top wildlife and natural resource professionals in Texas. Subjects covered include everything from biology, habitat management, watersheds, population dynamics, ecology, and botany, to photography, journalism, firearm safety, fishing, communication, critical-thinking, team building and leadership.
