Christine Janecka

Beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Christine R. Janecka, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, the 28th of Feb. 2008, with her family at her side.

Christine was born on March 10, 1927 to Frank and Annie Naskrent Wietrzyski in Stoneham and later moved to Fort Bend County with her parents. She lived in Booth, Beasley and Richmond during her lifetime and attended school at Random and Cottonwood.

As a young girl she worked as a waitress at the Rice Hotel in Houston. From 1941 through 1944 she worked for the National Biscuit Company until her marriage on November 4, 1945. From 1945 until 1968 she was a devoted wife and mother, helping her husband with his farming and cattle business. She re-entered the workforce in 1968, working for the Kroger Company as a meat wrapper for 20 years, until her retirement in 1988.

Christine was also a member of KJZT Society, as well as a member of the Holy Rosary Altar Society.

Her favorite pastimes were fishing at Sargent with her husband, Joe, either by themselves or with friends and camping with her family at Garner State Park in Leakey. She also enjoyed dancing and loved telling stories to her grandchildren about the "one that got away."

She is lovingly survived by her husband of 62 years, Joe J. Janecka Sr., of Richmond; son, Joe J. Janecka Jr. and wife Judy of Richmond; daughters, Betty Jane Gajewski and husband Victor of Sealy; Patricia Marie Kuba and husband Andrew of Rosenberg; and Peggy Ann Hruzek and husband Douglas of Rosenberg.

Ten grandchildren, Darrell Wayne Gajewski and wife Mary of Sealy; Wesley Gajewski of Sealy, Jennifer Ann and husband Gregory Frnka of Richmond; Joseph J. Janecka III of Arlington, Virginia; Justin G. Janecka of Richmond; John C. Kuba of Abilene; Timothy J. Kuba of Rosenberg; Ann Elizabeth Kuba of Rosenberg; Hayden D. Hruzek of Rosenberg; Grant W. Hruzek of Rosenberg; four great-grandchildren, Adam and Jacob Gajewski of Sealy and Jocelynn and Mackensie Frnka of Richmond also survive.

In addition, she is survived by her brother, John Witzkoski and wife Evelyn of Rosenberg; sisters, Verna Pavlock and Victoria (Vickie) Valicek of Rosenberg and Rosie Lewandowski and husband Max of McAllen; sister-in-law, Edna Janik of Richmond; and brother-in-law, Bennie Richter of Rosenberg as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Annie Wietrzyski; sisters, Martha Wietrzyski and Mary Scholwinski; brother, Joe Wietrzyski; and infant sister, Lucy.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 2 from 1-8 p.m., with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m. at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg.

A funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 3 at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg with Father Dan Warden officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to her caregivers, Irma Hernandez, Mary Jane Navarro and Charlotte Rhemann and to Selma Musaji and Karen Narvacan of Inter Active Hospice for their loving care of Christine during her illness as well as to all of her friends who were always inquiring about her health and well being and sending their well wishes.
