Chamber busy with membership drive this week
BECCA SOCHA CHAMBER PRESIDENT

It is hard to believe that spring is here. It seems school just started and now it is already time for seniors to be graduating and making plans for their future. We have wonderful children in our district and we are so very proud of all the achievements we see so many of them accomplishing.

It is also rewarding to see so many get involved in our community and care what happens to El Campo. We have our Junior Ambassadors attend our board meetings each month to learn what is going on in their community. All of us have feelings and opinions of what should happen in our town. The main thing is we all do what is going to make El Campo a better place.

This week the Chamber is having one of its big Membership Events with the Chamber Connection Group coming in and working with many volunteers. We have asked many people in the community to help. We hope and pray it will be as successful as the first one.

I can honestly say that everyone has busy lifestyles. I always tell someone if you are looking for sympathy ... I am not the one to complain to. I am like everyone else, I have Rotary raffle, Chamber Crawfish raffle, St. Philip items to sell from time to time and now that Zach has started Little League we are blessed with those tickets.

Everyone is going 90 to nothing and it all comes down to realizing the importance of all of these things. Community, Religion and Family. This is what everyone's lives are revolved around and remember all organizations help our children and community.

We have improvements around town with NewFirst National Bank moving a branch into the strip center by Subway along with The Shoe Dept. which is a chain. Jack's has been busy adding to the landscape. The new Middle School is beautiful and I know everyone there should be enjoying that.

Zach attended the Cinderella Play the other night to watch Chance, his cousin, and he told me all about the school. We also have some open business space if anyone wants to take the opportunity to check it out. The Duson building has offices with a view available. If interested call Curtis Clapp. We also know that BLS has a building at 2401 West Loop. If interested call Stacy Romo at 543-2696.

We have had our board retreat with two sessions and we are off to a big challenge. The Chamber Directors are putting all their eggs into one basket and trying to come up with a town Festival. Our directors working on this are Jake Brodsgaard, Taylor Radley, Joanne Villarreal, Jay Saucedo and Steve Ward.

We are having them meet with others that were involved with Grande Day to see what the pros and cons were. We want this to be a big event with great music and fun for the entire family.

We also want to attract out of town people to come and stay. One of the other services we are working on is how to improve our benefits to be beneficial to all types of businesses. If your business is in need of specific classes for helping train staff or bettering productivity let us know so we can help set up seminars.

The Chamber welcomes these new members: Christ Lutheran Church, Circle L Digital Media and Travel Inn and Suites.
