City to set voting districts in new areas City Council may take action on an ordinance setting up voting districts in newly annexed areas when it meets Tuesday. According to the fairly light agenda for that meeting, Council will discuss and possibly take action on setting up the representative districts in the areas added to the city in December: part of the Sandy Corner area between Sandy Corner Road and Hwy. 71 north, land on FM 2765 near the new El Campo Middle School and land on U.S. 59 near South Meadow Lane. A suit challenging the annexations has been appealed to the 13th District Court of Appeals in Corpus Christi. Council will also take action on investments and its bank depository and announce it's set March 13 as the date for a workshop to finish up plans for animal control and police department renovations and talk about civic center plans. As well, Council will meet in closed session to discuss current litigation and to "deliberate the purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property." If any action is taken, it will occur in open session. The Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 11 in the City Council chambers at 315 E. Jackson. Meetings are open to the public. |
