City Arrests Alcohol, drugs

Brad Eliot Bannert, 30, of 212 Candy was arrested at 2:36 a.m. Friday, March 7 on charges of driving while intoxicated - second offense and no insurance, after being stopped for speeding. He was transferred to Wharton County Jail the same day.

Edgar Guerrero Gaspas, 19, of 701 Alice Ave. was arrested at 9:35 a.m. Thursday, March 6 on warrants for burglary of a vehicle and assault by contact. He remained in custody at presstime.

Stacy Lynn Shelton, 24, of 808 Roberts was arrested at 7 a.m. Wednesday, March 5 on two warrants for debit card abuse. She was held on $20,000 bond as of the next day.

Melvin Monroe Brigham, 50, of Houston was arrested at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5 while already in custody at the county jail on a warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a child. He remained in custody at presstime.

Sylvia Juanita Herrera, 19, of 1580 CR 309 in Louise was arrested at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 4 on a Wharton County warrant for probation violation. She was transferred to county jail the next day.

Daniel Lee, 53, of 916 Carolyn in Wharton was arrested at 2:26 p.m. Thursday, March 6 on warrants for issuance of a bad check and no insurance and two warrants for public intoxication. He remained in custody at presstime.

Mid Coast Cable Television, 505 N. Mechanic reported burglary of a vehicle in its parking lot between 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 4 and 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6 causing $650 damage.

Christy Mahalitc reported burglary of a habitation at 209 1/2 W. Norris between 5:15 and 8:05 p.m. Thursday, March 6. Burglars stole video games and controllers, a Dell laptop and a Kodak digital camera, worth a total of $1,305, and did $50 damage to a window.

County Incidents Property

Donald North Jr. reported burglary of a habitation at 138 Cedar in Louise between 9:45 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23. Burglars stole two iPods worth $205 and a $40 pair of earrings.

Nicole Michele Harrell, 32, of 406-B Mockingbird was booked into Wharton County Jail at 12:44 a.m. Thursday, March 6 for possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone. She was held on $5,000 bond.

Jail population as of 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6 was 97 prisoners.
