Prairie Switch 4-H reviews new & old business events

As a special presentation, Linda Cerny shared a poem with members of El Campo Prairie Switch 4-H as they gathered Monday evening at the El Campo Knights of Columbus Hall. The poem, "Dad's Day," was one she recited at the Wharton County 4-H Round-Up competition recently.

During the business portion of the meeting, Cody, Kayelyn, Rebecca and Stephanie Korenek led the pledges and prayer. Greg and Jennifer Eggemeyer led the parents' pledge.

President Stephanie Korenek then called on officer and committee chairpersons for their reports. Sarah Supak called roll and Cody Seaman gave the treasurer's report.

The membership committee reminded members that to run for a 2008-09 office position, they must fill out an application and submit it at the April meeting.

Historian Morgan Eggemeyer asked members for photographs from various projects. They will be compiled in the club's scrapbook.

Colby Snider and Cheyenne Staff, who serve on the community service committee, collected items for the Women's Crisis Center. They also recognized members who helped distribute Valentines to nursing home residents.

For the Sunshine committee, Kristen Staff asked members to sign thank you cards to be given to various businesses and individuals who donated to the club's fundraiser.

Michael Orsak then gave the junior fair board report. Important dates and activities from the 4-H newsletter were then reviewed. Fair work dates were also discussed.

Graduating seniors will be recognized at the next meeting on April 7.
