'Nanny' Skrovan honored on her 86th birthday

"Nanny" Elizabeth Skrovan celebrated her 86th birthday Saturday afternoon, March 8, at her home in Hillje.

Her six children and spouses who hosted the party were Karen Elkins of Houston, Pat and RoseAnn Skrovan of Austin, Sue and Bill Ferguson of Houston, Jeanne and Ricky Hubenak of El Campo, Pam and Greg Chromcak of Louise and Lanette and Johnnie Rue Gresham of Louise.

Party decorations featured her patio garden area filled with blooming plants, flowers and shrubs.

The meal was a cook-out of barbecued hamburgers and a big pot of homemade chicken noodle soup. A special chocolate birthday cake was also served.

Special guests in attendance were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Michelle and Steven Townsend and children Kirby, Kara, Kade and Kole; Werth and Melanie Garrett and son Jett; Chelsea Hubenak, Rachel and Budd Schoeneberg and son Levi; Christopher Chromcak, Lauren Gresham and Clay Zboril.

Everyone enjoyed a special day planting flowers for the honoree, visiting and reminiscing about the good old days with their Nanny.

Her family attended the 10 a.m. Mass with her Sunday morning at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Hillje.
