Brooks' students compete in private contests

Tabitha Beard attended the Texas Private School Music Educators Association's Solo and Ensemble Contest at John Cooper School in the Woodlands Saturday, March 1. She is a student of Vickey Brooks.

Beard received a first division and medal for her performance of a Class I clarinet solo of Schumann's Fantasy Pieces Op. 73, No. 1 and No. 2.

Beard, the daughter of Michael and Kim Beard, is a home-schooled 10th grade student.

She is now eligible to attend the Texas Private School Music Educators Association's State Solo and Ensemble contest in May in Dallas.

She has studied clarinet with Brooks for two years.

Ashley Schoeneberg, a piano student of Brooks, also attended the Middle School Solo and Ensemble Contest on Saturday at Needville Junior High.

She received a first division rating and medal for her performance of Clementi's Sonatina Opus 36 No. 1, 3rd movement. She has studied piano with Brooks for six years.

Schoeneberg is the daughter of Alys Grier and the late Arthur Schoeneberg. She a seventh grader at Louise Junior
