Louise ISD board may adopt anti-TTC stance

Louise school trustees may take an official stand on the proposed Trans-Texas Corridor project when they meet Monday night.

At the Louise ISD board's last meeting in February, trustees directed Superintendent Andy Peters to draft a resolution against the massive roadway project championed by Gov. Rick Perry.

Citing its harm to the district, El Campo ISD board members unanimously passed a resolution last month against the proposed route of the Trans-Texas Corridor.

That resolution noted concerns about student safety due to having a second, massive thoroughfare slicing across the county, loss of enrollment and the likely loss of property taxes when land for the roadway is condemned.

Louise trustees will also get updates on the district's new softball field and fitness center from Peters. The meeting's relatively light agenda otherwise contains routine business matters.

The board meets at 7 p.m. Monday, March 17 in the district's meeting room, in the administration building at 408 Second in Louise. Board meetings are open to the public.
