Nada CDA appoints nominating committee

A rosary service led by Frances Staff and Rose Staff preceded the meeting of Nada Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Our Lady of the Rosary No. 1595 at St. Mary's Parish Hall on Tuesday, March 11, at 7 p.m.

Regent, Anita Meismer welcomed all attending including District Deputy Darice Miksch of Columbus.

The opening prayer was led by Ernestine Schneider and opening ode by Vice Regent Bernita Korenek. The pledge to the U.S. and Texas flags was led by Helen Noteboom.

Regent Anita Meismer conducted the business meeting.

Secretary Virginia Pavlovsky read the minutes and treasurer Marilyn Popp gave her report. Committee reports were heard from Rose Staff, charity; Mabel Beard, Mass and special Mass enrollments; Noteboom, senior citizen party; and Sandy Schneider, ways and means.

Apostolate chairwoman Bernice Kallina reported the Easter party for residents of Garden Villa will be held March 13, at 2 p.m.

Prior to the election of the nominating committee, District Deputy Darice Miksch gave instructions on the duties of the committee. Elected to the nominating committee were Linda Swoboda, chairman; Helen Noteboom, Janie Mae Popp, Ernestine Schneider and Virginia Balusek. She also reported on protocol to be followed by officers and explained the regent is to be advised when an officer is to be absent and unable to fulfill her appointed duties.

Members voted to make a donation to the Colorado County Relay for Life Walk and to the ACTS Retreat.

It was announced the Nada/ Garwood Gadabouts have nominated Pauline Solomon and Edward Korenek for Colorado County Older Texans. Also, there will be a financial review after the April meeting. Audit committee members will be Monica Staff, Mabel Beard and Janie Mae Popp.

A prayer for vocations and the closing ode concluded the meeting.

Following the meeting, hostesses Rose Staff, Renee Staff, Monica Staff, Charleen Staff, Frances Staff and Betty Staff served refreshments.

The next meeting will be April 8 beginning with a rosary service at 7 p.m.
