Even after swimming season, El Campo keeps earning awards.

Meredith Bard, El Campo's lone swimmer to advance to the state meet, joined an elite group of swimmers as a member of the top 50 times in the girls 50-yard freestyle of Class 4-A.

The list includes swimmers throughout the state and dates back to 2000 for the list's oldest time.

Bard's 25.34 time placed her at 43 on the top 50 list. The best individual time was set in 2005 by Lara Jackson of El Paso Chapin at 23.24.

Along with Bard's all-time achievement, she and the girls 200-freestyle relay team made the all-state swim teams.

Bard earned a place on the second team all-state with her 50-yard freestyle time.

Hailey O'Briant, Randi McClure, Blythe Nava and Bard all received honorable mention as a team in the girls 200-yard freestyle relay. The team combined for a time of 1:46.30 to earn the honor.

Wharton's 200-yard freestyle team also received honorable mention. Sarah Harper, Amanda Billings, Shea Fynn and Kaleigh Kacal swam the event in 1:48.16.
