Taiton EEC plans day of games & fun

Members of the Taiton Extension Education Club met Wednesday morning, March 12 at the VFW Hall.

President Elsie Stavinoha called the meeting to order. The opening prayer, creed, Pledge of Allegiance and pledge to the Texas flag were recited. Thirty-one members answered roll call by naming their favorite flowers.

Grace Glaze reported on the Extension Education District meeting she attended in Bellville on March 11. Also attending were Georgia Henderson, Pat Sanders and Dorothy Faas.

The state association gives one scholarship to a youth from each of the 12 districts and two adult scholarships from the dues. This practice was started when dues were only five cents. A new project called Dollars for Scholars will be instituted to raise money for scholarships.

An afternoon of games will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., April 1 at the VFW Hall. Members and guests will be served a chicken spaghetti lunch. Deadline for reservations is March 25.

On March 25 at 1:30 p.m., a covered dish luncheon and Wharton County Extension Education Association meeting will be held in Wharton. On April 9 at 9:30 a.m., a TEEC meeting will be held at the VFW Hall.
