LHS girls strong at state level

Louise's Lady Hornet powerlifters returned from Friday's state powerlifting meet as Texas' fourth best team.

Five of the six girls finished in the top five in their individual weight classes and helped the team earn the high ranking.

"I was just really proud of them," Mark Stevens, Louise's powerlifting coach, said. "Most of them lifted their best totals of the year. They just competed really well."

C.J. Clements is preparing to represent Louise at the boys state powerlifting championships at Abilene March 29. More information on the meet will be available in future editions of the Leader-News.

The following is a list of Louise's results at the state meet.

Kristin Haynes - sixth in 97- lbs. class, squat lift: 165, bench press: 80, deadlift: 195, total: 440.Samira Villeda - third in 105-lbs. class, squat lift: 190, bench press: 95, deadlift: 235, total: 520.

Amber Perez - fourth in 123- lbs. class, squat lift: 210, bench press: 95, deadlift: 225, total: 530.

Jecenia Guevara - fourth place in 148-lbs. class, squat lift: 265, bench press: 90, deadlift: 240, total: 595.

Cheyenne Collins - second in 198-lbs. class, squat lift: 305, bench press: 120, deadlift: 315, total: 740.

Jamie DeLeon - third in super heavy weight class, squat lift: 350, bench press: 160, deadlift: 320, total: 830.
