Louise Band Host Bake Sale

The Louise Hornet Band hosts a bake sale - with donations used for the Disney trip - Saturday, March 22 at Sablatura's Grocery, 105 N. Market in Louise, from 8 a.m. until sold out. Also, they will be set up at 10:30 a.m. at Mustang Creek BBQ, 37320 U.S. 59 in Louise. Pick up your desserts for Easter!

TODAY, MARCH 22

First Christian Church Holy Week Schedule First Christian Church hosts an Easter egg hunt for children at 10 a.m. today at the church. Children are asked to bring one dozen wrapped candy eggs to share. Easter Sunday, March 23 there will be a community sunrise service at 7:30 a.m. at Evans Park in downtown El Campo. Bad weather location will be the Fellowship Hall at the church. Following will be a pancake breakfast beginning at 8:20 a.m. at the Fellowship Hall. Bible School at 9:30 a.m. and worship and communion at 10:40 a.m. Everyone is welcome.

Youth Easter Egg Hunt/Services Progressive Missionary Baptist Church hosts a youth Easter egg hunt Saturday, March 22 at 9 a.m. at Willie Bell Park. Sunday will be Morning Service and Youth Easter Program. Lighted Candle of Loved Ones will be a $5 donation.

Palacios main Street Market Days The Palacios Chamber of Commerce hosts Palacios Main Street Market Days from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Railroad Park on Saturday, March 22. The Easter Bunny will be on hand from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. for photos.

Easter Sunrise Service at PRMBC Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 810 Palacios holds Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday, March 23 at 6 a.m.

Easter Sunrise Service At Park Memorial Baptist hosts an Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. at Friendship Park at the pavilion. Bring your lawn chairs. Everyone is welcome. Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m. There will be no evening service at on Sunday, March 23.

MONDAY, MARCH 24

Relay For Life Online Training For Captains Relay For Life of Wharton County holds classes on its new Web site. All team captains (new and current) need to attend one of the meetings listed. If you are not able to attend, send one of your team members in your place. El Campo's training will be Monday, March 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the El Campo Library meeting room. Wharton's training will be held Tuesday, March 25 at 5:30 p.m. at the Wharton Public Library. All attendees will receive and online training manual and Relay For Life gifts. Attendees will be registered for door prizes.

Ricebird Band Boosters Meeting The Ricebird Band Boosters meet Monday, March 24 at 6 p.m. at the El Campo High School Band Hall. All middle and high school band parents and anyone interested in working with the Band Boosters are encouraged to attend. For information call Leticia Mulford at 543-5334.

Fried Chicken Dinner Fundraiser ECISD Walking 9-5 Relay Team hosts a fried chicken dinner fundraiser Tuesday, March 25 from 5-7 p.m. at Staff's Food Service. Plates are $7. Panhellenic Association Meeting Sorority alumnae are invited to the next meeting of the Texas Gulf Coast Alumnae Panhellenic Association on Tuesday, March 25 at 6 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall at First United Methodist Church in Wharton. Louise-Hillje Chamber of Commerce Banquet The Louise-Hillje Chamber of Commerce hosts its 49th Annual Banquet Thursday, March 27 at St. Andrew Parish Hall in Hillje. WSI Instructor Course Class A Water Safety Instructor Course provides the knowledge and the training to be a successful instructor and includes general water safety and emergency procedures, swimming safety for infants and preschoolers, teaching methods and the Progressive Learn-to-Swim Levels. Prerequisites: 16 years of age with the ability to perform several different strokes. Course is 34 hours, including pre-course swim and Fundamentals of Instructor Training. WSI Course will be at Bay City High School Pool on Friday, March 28 from 5-9, Saturday, March 29 from 9-5, Sunday, March 30 from 9-5, Saturday, April 5 from 9-5 and Sunday, April 6 from 9-5. CPR For The Professional RR Classes CPR for the Professional Rescuer recertification classes are Saturday, March 29 from 5-9 p.m. The cost is $40 if you bring your book and pocket mask. If not, there's an additional cost of $10 for the pocket mask and/or $15 for the book. Registration fees are payable by check or money order. Crescent Ex-Students Biennial Reunion Crescent Ex-students Biennial Reunion is Saturday, March 29 at the Wharton County Fair Grounds from 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. All ex-students, faculty and friends are invited, including those from Lakeview, Jones Creek and Pecha schools. Lunch tickets can be reserved at $10 by calling Lorraine Younger at 979-677-3440.

WCYF Little Miss/Little Mr. Contest Any boy or girl between the age of 6 and 8 years old as of May 1 is eligible for the Wharton County Youth Fair Little Miss/Little Mr. Contest. If interested, application are available at the Fair Office and on the web site at www. whartoncountyyouthfair.org. Applications are due in the fair office by March 31.

St. Philip Sponsors 'Run For Excellence' The first 'Run For Excellence' to benefit St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Parish and the St. Philip Pioneer athletic department is Saturday, April 5 at St. Philip's football field. Race registration is 7:30-8:30 a.m.; the 5K Run/ Walk begins at 8:45 a.m. and the 1-mile Family Run begins at 9 a.m. Entry fee is $20 per person. Forms available at the school or parish office. Morning Lifeguards Needed At ECAC Lifeguards are needed by the El Campo Aquatic Center, especially during the 6-11 a.m. shift, Monday through Friday. Guard classes will be taught March 24-30. Applicants must be no younger than 15 to apply, and adult applicants are being encouraged. For information call Stephanie at 543-1468.

Ricebird Booster Club Meeting Ricebird Booster Club meets Monday, April 7 at 6 p.m. Election of officers will be elected at this meeting. The meeting will take place in the weight room classroom.

Veterans Service Officer Hours The office of Wharton County Veterans Service Officer Harvey H. Stelzel Jr. is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays through April 30. Office hours are 7:30 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. The office is located at 1017 N. Alabama Road in Wharton. Phone 532-1311.

Spay/Neuter Assistance Available The Matagorda County SPCA has a program to help financially disadvantaged people in Wharton, Jackson, Matagorda and the southern part of Colorado County get their dogs or cats spayed or neutered.
