EC man placed on probation after fleeing from police An El Campo man will spend three years on probation for running from police while a woman is prison bound after pleading guilty to theft charges. The two sentences were among those handed down in recent 329th District Court action in Wharton. Those pleading guilty and accepting punishment included: • Cedric Bernard Bennett, 30, of 926 N. Liberty in El Campo for evading arrest or detention. He was placed on three years deferred probation, fined $250 and ordered to perform 80 hours community service. With the deferred probation, the conviction won't be held against Bennett if he is able to complete all terms. • Daniel Cavazos, 28, of 1318 E. Grime in Harlingen for fraudulent use of identifying information. He was sentenced to one year in state jail. • Rodolfo Garcia, 36, of 2725 Kenny Circle #72 in Ingleside for driving while intoxicated. He was sentenced to five years in prison. • Clarence Barfield, 30, of 121 Clements in Angleton for possession of a controlled substance. He was sentenced to six months in state jail. • Karina Ramirez, 30, of 1002 N. Liberty in El Campo for theft. She was sentenced to four and a half years in prison and ordered to pay $25,546.37 restitution. • Jose Dejesus Reyna, 27, of 200 Roses, Rt. 1, in Roma for money laundering. He was sentenced to 18 months in state jail and ordered to pay $250 restitution. |
