Resurrection Sunday School Lesson
Students in Amy Konarik and Cathy Schoenfield's Sunday school class at First Lutheran Church received an added blessing to the lesson they were teaching last Sunday about the resurrection of Jesus. After the children finished an outdoor Easter egg hunt, the teachers revealed a donkey in one of the eggs for their lesson. "I explained how Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and that many people don't know that it was tradition for kings to ride on a donkey in times of peace," Konarik said. "No sooner than I finished telling the class this, a man with a donkey came trotting in front of the church on Oscar St. The class said: 'Look a donkey.'" The group greeted Tino Martin and his donkey Hannah. "We asked the man if it was okay to pet the donkey; he was more than happy to oblige. We explained to him the irony of it all." Pictured with Martin and Hannah are (lr) Sawyer Schoenfield, Ty Schoenfield, Russell Konarik, Jolie Konarik and Tristan Valchar. "A lowly donkey was given to Jesus to ride into Jerusalem just before His death and resurrection," Konarik quoted from Matthew 21:1-9.
