The track and field at Ricebird Stadium no longer resemble the conditions last Friday during the Ricebird Relays. Work, some of which was performed by the construction vehicles shown in the background, began the morning after the relays ended, and by Sunday morning the stadium's field was covered in massive piles of earth. Major drainage work will take place before a new track and artificial turf are installed. The school board decided in February to go forward with the $1.477 million project, which is scheduled for completion before football season begins this autumn.
