Louise ISD school board trustee Tim Benich relaxes on one of the dozens of Nautilus machines now installed at the district's new fitness center. The district received a $200,000 federal grant for fitness equipment and created the center in what had been the locker room and storage areas of the old gymnasium. Plans are for the facility to be used by high school students, and eventually be opened by paid membership to members of the community. The district still needs to install a computerized card-entry system for the center before it's opened for use by the public, LISD Superintendent Andy Peters said.
