Alleged drug possession and forgery have several Wharton County residents facing felony trials following March grand jury deliberations.

Grand juries serve as a citizen review deciding whether a prosecutor has enough evidence to proceed with felony charges against an individual. If the grand jury agrees that enough evidence exists, it issues an indictment. The indictment is not an indication of guilt.

Those facing trial include:

• Jason Lee Haley, 30, of 16616 CR 208 in East Bernard for possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly had less than 1 gram of cocaine on Aug. 15, 2007.

• Tyson Paul Hardy, 28, of 900 Ave. H in Bay City for theft. He allegedly stole a ring worth more than $1,500 on Aug. 10, 2007.

• Adrian Hernandez, 20, of 406-A Mockingbird in El Campo for sexual assault of a child. The incident allegedly took place Nov. 22, 2007 involving a girl under the age of 17.

• Cesar Julian Herrera, 32, of 307 Lundy in El Campo for two counts of driving while intoxicated with a child passenger and two counts of endangering a child. He allegedly drove drunk on Dec. 27, 2007 with two children under the age of 15 in the vehicle.

• Scott Lassetter aka Scott Lasetter, 54, of 2237 Wroxton in Houston for possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly had more than 4 grams of methamphetamine on Sept. 9, 2007.

• William Felix Lawson, 29, of 2801 North 28 1/2 in McAllen for possession of marijuana. He allegedly had more than 50 pounds of marijuana on Oct. 20, 2007.

• Leon Markel Lee, 24, of 602 Alamo in El Campo for possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly had less than 1 gram of cocaine on Oct. 11, 2007.

• Nikki Paige Mata, 32, of 7227 Long Hollow Dr. in Houston for possession of a controlled substance. She allegedly had less than 1 gram of cocaine on June 7, 2007.

• Joseph Joe McMillian, 26, of 7425 W. Bernard in Hungerford for three counts of failure to register as a sex offender. He allegedly moved Aug. 7, 2007 and failed to register the change. McMillian has two prior convictions for sexual assault of a child and one for burglary of a habitation.

• Deborah Mozisek, 30, of 116-B Elm in Boling for forgery. She allegedly forged a $395.60 check on Nov. 6, 2007.

• Quincy Newsome, 30, of 1810 Azalea in Wharton for possession of a controlled substance in a drug free zone and the intent to deliver. He allegedly had more than 4 grams of a methamphetamine with the intent to sell on June 12, 2007 within 1,000 feet of Harris Park in Wharton.

• Jose Juaquim Rocha, 34, of 605 N. Wharton in El Campo for engaging in organized criminal activity. He allegedly conspired with three others to burglarize a building on Nov. 21, 2007.

• Crystal Ann Rose, 17, of 37 Serena Dr. in El Campo for possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence. She allegedly had less than a gram of cocaine on Feb. 9 and on the same day attempted to conceal marijuana during a traffic stop.

• Rodrick Rydolph, 21, of 12945 S. Post Oak in Houston for possession of a controlled substance and the intent to deliver it. He allegedly had more than 400 grams of codeine with the intent to sell on June 2, 2007.

• Walter Steele, 30, of 3130 Shuteye Road in Mang, La., for possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly had less than a gram of a methamphetamine on Sept. 16, 2006 within 1,000 feet of property owned by the Wharton school district.

• Jonathan Nehba Stubbs, 25, of 6640 Akers Mill Road #5422 in Atlanta, Ga., for theft of a firearm. He allegedly stole a firearm on Oct. 23, 2007.

• Brian Torres, 17, of 605 Bruns in El Campo for possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly had less than a gram of cocaine on Feb. 9.

• Walter Douglas Villarreal Jr., 20, of 412 Olive in Wharton for evading with a motor vehicle. He allegedly used a vehicle to flee a Wharton County Sheriff's deputy on Feb. 9.

• Charles Mark Wrigley III, 33, of 710 College in El Campo for engaging in organized criminal activity. He allegedly conspired with three others to burglarize a building on Nov. 21, 2007.

Superceding Indictments

A superceding indictment is one that adds to charges against an individual or corrects information.

Superceding indictments were issued against:

• Nathan Wayne Robinson, 25, of 1002 Ellwood in El Campo for two counts of indecency with a child, one count of sexual performance by a child and one count of enticing a child. The alleged incident reportedly took place July 31, 2007 involving a girl under the age of 17.

• Gregorio Guerrero Castillo, 39, of 206 N. Ford in Ganado for driving while intoxicated third or more offense and retaliation. He allegedly drove drunk Jan. 17 and threatened harm to a police officer.

Castillo has two prior misdemeanor convictions for DWI as well as two felony convictions for possession of a controlled substance.

• Michael Mark Martinez, 45, of 1501 Pinchot in El Campo for endangering a child and possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly had less than a gram of cocaine on Oct. 14, 2007 and failed to keep it inaccessible to a child.
