Aulds shares travels of Israel with Woman's Club

The El Campo Woman's Club met on Tuesday, March 18 at the Northside Center meeting room. President Dayle Aulds called the meeting to order with 15 members and three guests attending. Cohostesses were Gloria Petersen and Judy Waligura.

Aulds presented a program on her trip to Israel. She had traveled with a group of Christian women in leadership to study various women of the Bible. Linda Olmert, the sisterin law of the Prime Minister of Israel, led the women in this study that included travels to major tourist attractions where leading women of the Bible were studied.

Aulds explained that Israel is surrounded by 22 hostile nations and these nations are 640 times the size of Israel. These Arab nations have 60 times the population of Israel. Men and women, at the age of 18, are required to join the service or to perform three years of community service. Aulds said that Jersuleum is the "apple of God's eye." This city is also blooming and blossoming for the future, she said. Israel exports fruits and vegetable to 90 nations and will celebrate its 60 year anniversary this year. The air around the Sea of Galiee also contains 10 percent more oxygen.

Patsy Korenek led the club with the club collect and the pledges to the flags. Gloria Petersen called roll and read the minutes from the February meeting. Evelyn Martin gave the treasurer's report and Catherine Lundy took up collections for Project Smile. The TFWC report was given by Mary Lou Birkner.

Discussion followed on the district and state conventions and the purchasing of door prizes.

The slate of officers for 2008- 2010 was presented. Officers will be: president-Jo Dennis, vice president-Sherry Stanley, recording secretary-Sharon Faltisek, treasurer-Nancy Nelsen, corresponding secretary Mary Lou Birkner, parliamentarian Dayle Aulds, press reporter-Judy Waligura and custodian-Gloria Petersen.

The next meeting will be April 15 with Dr. Ted Scott presenting a program on "Do I Need a Colonscopy?"
