El Campo's rally falls short against Foster

      The Lady 'Birds fell in an intense game to Foster Tuesday in Richmond. Foster held off El Campo's bats to take a lead, and held the Lady 'Birds scoreless through the first six innings. A great comeback in the top of the seventh almost changed the game's outcome.

East siders named to county team

      El Campo and Louise members of the El Campo Leader-News and Wharton Journal-Spectator All-Wharton County Girls Basketball team were announced last week. Now, players from the east side of the county are released. Wharton, Boling and East Bernard all earned places on the all-county rosters.

      Clutch hitting came through for El Campo Tuesday as the Ricebirds beat the Terry Rangers 6-5. Tied at 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh, Tyler Socha came through with the gamewinning blast.

      The Lady 'Birds traveled to Houston Saturday and took on some top competition in the 57th Annual Texas Southern University Relays. In a field of over 100 schools, including powerhouses like Hightower, Dallas Skyline, Beaumont Ozen and Duncanville, El Campo held its own.
