      El Campo resident Chris Merta was recently honored by Catholic Life Insurance, the nation's eighth largest fraternal benefit society. Merta, FIC, was a leading producer of life insurance and retirement annuity sales for Catholic Life Insurance and earned the prestigious "Twelve Apostle" award.

Meryl Kemberling graduates with honors from HBU
      Meryl Kemberling graduated summa cum laude with a 3.99 grade point average from Houston Baptist University Feb. 23, 2008. She earned a bachelor of science degree in business and psychology. While at HBU, she was named to the Dean's List every semester and was named Freshman Woman of the Year.
