LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Single pickup service easy Editor, the Leader-News:

I live in Houston and I was against the one (trash) container but now since we have it I really like it. Just wheel it out once a week and no mess. These containers will hold more trash than you think. Give it a try, you will like it.

Frank Furlow

Houston (Editor's note: Letter submitted in response to a leader-news.com poll)

Banquet help appreciated Editor, the Leader-News:

On behalf of the directors of the Louise-Hillje Chamber of Commerce, I would like to express our gratitude to all that helped to make our 49th annual banquet another huge success.

The silent auction generated over $4,000 that will be used for scholarships and other projects to help keep the Louise-Hillje community one of the best places to live. A special thanks to all of the donors and the buyers for their generosity in making the silent auction so successful.

We had a record number of gold sponsorship tables this year. We sincerely appreciate all of the efforts that these sponsors do in helping to fund our festivities. To the decorating committee, it was another wonderful job. The decorations were beautiful.

Finally, a huge thank you is to be given to our outgoing president, Darryl Chromcak. Without his tireless efforts none of the aforementioned success would have been possible. His leadership and contributions not only this past year, but during his entire tenure as a director have been huge. He is a driving force for this organization.

I look forward to continue working and learning from him to better this organization and our community. Darryl thank you, and keep up the great work.

John Crowell, President

Voting a constitutional right Editor, the Leader-News:

This is in response to Amy Rod's letter to the editor on April 2, 2008. The right to vote is not a "rallying cry" and is not a "sound bite." Although that is what the aristocracy want you to believe. It is one of our constitutional rights that is fought for in the courts and on the battlefields around the world. That is the way I see it.
