Leader-News staff changes announced

Jennifer Davlin
Two significant changes have occurred in the El Campo Leader-News advertising department.

Jennifer Davlin, who has worked as an advertising specialist for more than seven years for the Leader-News, last week was promoted to advertising manager.

"Jennifer has done an outstanding job since coming to work for us, and she does a great job taking care of her customers and creating nice looking graphic designs for them," Publisher Chris Barbee said.

Barbee also announced the hiring of Michelle Lozano as an advertising specialist.

Lozano, who grew up in the San Antonio area, has family in the El Campo area and recently "moved back home." She earned a BBA from UT-San Antonio in 2000 and an MBA in marketing from Texas State University in 2005, and will now put that education and experience to work for Leader- News advertisers.

"Michelle will help Jennifer to continue giving our business community the first-rate advertising assistance they have become accustomed to. She has already started calling on customers and has started learning our software," Barbee said.

The Leader-News advertising department no longer just sells newspaper ads. The newspaper staff joined with the El Campo Chamber of Commerce two years ago to sell and produce a tourist and newcomer magazine - Experience El Campo - and hope to team with the Chamber soon to produce the official Chamber map which is currently sold and published by an out of state company.

Lozano is starting out by inheriting the accounts of Dory Labay, who left the newspaper Friday to begin her new job on Monday as executive director of Northside Center.
