Schoelman & Srubar wed at St. Philip Church

Amanda Schoelman and Shannon Srubar were united in marriage at 2 p.m., March 29, 2008 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Father Gary Janak, assisted by Deacon Jarrel Nohavitza, performed the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Dale and Connie Schoelman of El Campo. Parents of the groom are Andrew and Diann Srubar of El Campo.

The high altar was decorated with Easter lilies and hydrangeas with lighted candles. Windows were accented with Easter lilies, hydrangeas and illuminated with candles. The main altar was adorned with a large arrangement in various shades of pink flowers, including gladiolus, roses, lilies, hydrangeas and white daisies. This arrangement was in memory of the groom's grandfather, Robert Kubala.

Music was provided by Janice Cox, organist; and Daniel Berglund, soloist. Solo selections included "How Beautiful" and "God Who Created Hearts to Love."

The bride, escorted by her father, wore an Oleg Cassini strapless ivory fitted gown featuring an overlay of Alencon lace beading finished with a short Alencon lace jacket. Her tiara held an intricately beaded veil of silk illusion and she carried a nosegay bouquet of pink Avance roses backed with lemon leaf foliage hand-tied with ivory satin ribbon.

Matron of honor was Stacie McKinney of Victoria and maid of honor was Savannah Schoelman of El Campo, sisters of the bride. Bridesmaids were Sandi Bystrek of Victoria, sister of the groom; Laura Srubar of Victoria, sister-in-law of the groom; Shara Dluhos of Rosenberg and Amber Schoelman of El Campo, cousins of the bride; and Kim Witcher of Galveston, friend of the bride.

Attendants wore a formal black strapless gown accented with a champagne sash. They carried a nosegay bouquet of roses in shades of dark pink finished with a hand-tied satin ribbon.

Flower girls were Emorie Mazoch, cousin of the bride, and Claire Crowell, cousin of the groom. Ring bearers were Dylan Srubar and Mason Bystrek, nephews of the groom.

Slate Srubar of Victoria, brother of the groom, and Nathan Drapela of Huntsville, friend of the groom, served as best men. Groomsmen were Jon Bystrek of Victoria, brother in-law of the groom; Neal Dettling of El Campo, Chad Schmidt of Corpus Christi, Ryan Prochaska of Bryan and Allen Polasek of Houston, all friends of the groom.

Ushers were Jordan Kubala of Houston, Koy Kubala of Lubbock, Kody Kubala of Alpine, all cousins of the groom and Jake Staff of Nada, friend of the bride and groom.

Candlelighters were Clint Gold and Ryan Drapela. Witnesses were Rory McKinney and Betty Joe Livanec. Gift bearers were Wayne and Darlene Kubala. Lector was Keri Lambeth and program attendants were Kenzie Kresta, Allysa Krpec, Ancelence Lane and Natalie Nohavitza.

A reception, dinner and dance followed at the El Campo Civic Center. Members of the house party were Becky Kubala, Brenda Drapela, Kaydi Kubala, Gay Lynn Mazoch, Haley Kubala, Jessica Kulhanek, Kristi Baker and Lora Kubala.

Rehearsal dinner was held Friday, March 28 at the El Campo Civic Center.

The bride and groom are 2003 graduates of El Campo High School. She is office manager of Ace. He is a December 2006 graduate of the University of Houston-Victoria with a criminal justice degree. He is a juvenile probation officer in Matagorda County.

After a seven-day cruise to Jamaica, Cayman Island and Cozumel, the couple will reside in El Campo.
