Wilma Roades

Wilma Roades, 86, of Spring, died Monday, April 7, 2008.

She was born Feb. 24, 1922, in Llano to Everette and Belle Martin. She graduated from Llano High School and received a bachelor of arts degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and a master of arts degree in English from the University of Houston.

Mrs. Roades was a retired public school teacher from the Palacios ISD and taught at St. Philip Catholic School in El Campo upon retirement. She was a resident of El Campo for 70 years before moving to Lake Jackson, Rosenberg and Spring.

Mrs. Roades was a past matron of El Campo Chapter No. 535, Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of Rosenberg Chapter No. 429.

Survivors include her daughters, Owen Louise Roades and Margaret Noey, both of Spring; son-in-law, John Noey; and two grandchildren, Rebekah and J.D. Noey; one step-son, Edgar Roades of El Campo; and eight step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen E. Roades Sr.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 10 from 5:30- 8:30 p.m. at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel, 3900 B.F.Terry Blvd. in Rosenberg.

Services for Wilma Roades will be held Friday, April 11 in Rosenberg at First Baptist Church, 1117 1st Street, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Donnie Melton officiating.

Graveside services will follow in El Campo at Garden of Memories Cemetery with the Rev. Rick DuBroc officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital or First Baptist Church in Rosenberg.
