TEEC recalls its start Taiton Extension Education Club had its beginning in 1930. A tape of the reminisces of deceased member Viola Naiser was played at the April 9 meeting at the VFW Hall. She recalled names of the ladies who started the club and listed some of their projects. Canning, gardening, landscaping, building furniture and barbecue pits were included. Ordering pineapples, making mattresses and feather quilts and even games parties were on the agenda. Peggy Hobbins and Margie Brenek, guests for the day, brought the gueen size wedding ring quilt which is being given for a prize drawing to provide funds for Wharton County Association scholarships for 4-H and non 4-H graduates. Tickets are available from Wharton County Extension Education Club members. A taco salad lunch will be served at the Wharton Civic Center April 17. Plates are $5 and will be drive-thru only. Plans for the State TEEA Conference to be held Sept. 9-11 were discussed. District 11, which includes clubs in Wharton County, is hosting the conference at the Omni Hotel. |
