CDC directors to discuss small business Monday
By BRENDA SOMMER bsommer@leader-news.com

Directors of the City Development Corp. of El Campo will have small business on their minds when they meet Monday.

On the agenda is consideration of a resolution recognizing Small Business Appreciation Week - April 21-27 - and possible action on a funding request for the University of Houston Coastal Plains Small Business Development Center.

As well, the board will review the Northside Center's quarterly report, and meet its new executive director, Dory Labay. The CDC receives the Northside report because it helps fund the center's activities.

There will also be a closed executive session to discuss economic development negotiations and talk to the board's attorney. If any action is taken as a result of those deliberations, it will occur in a subsequent open session.

The CDC is a city-created entity funded by a quarter cent of the city's sales tax dollars to promote economic development.

The board meeting begins at 3 p.m. Monday, April 21 in the Northside Education Center conference room, 707 Fahrenthold. CDC board meetings are open to the public.
