Animal rescue group getting organized

      Taking the first steps toward organizing an animal control/animal adoption program, Wharton County's Stray Pet Outreach Team - SPOT - started organizing last week at the Wharton County Annex Building.

      City Arrests Alcohol, drugs A 13-year-old El Campo boy was arrested at 12:20 p.m. Monday, April 14 on a charge of possession of 2 ounces or less of marijuana while at El Campo Middle School, 4010 FM 2765. The boy was released to the custody of a relative the same day.

      Allegations ranging from burglary to drug offenses will have several Wharton County residents facing charges in felony court in coming months. The Wharton County Grand Jury handed down an assortment of indictments during their April deliberations.
