Casey Bubela given bridal shower at Christ Lutheran Casey Bubela, bride-elect of Matt Wied, was honored with a miscellaneous shower Saturday afternoon, April 12, at the fellowship hall of Christ Lutheran Church. Upon her arrival, Casey was presented with a corsage of silk roses and carnations in her chosen colors of royal blue and white. The registration table held her bride's book and Casey and Matt's engagement photo surrounded by photos of them as children. Guests were seated at tables covered in white linen cloths with baskets of roses and carnations and crystal candle holders illuminated with white votive candles. After playing several games, including the opportunity for guests to tell of things they knew about the prospective bride and groom, Casey opened her gifts. She was assisted by her maid of honor, her sister Christi Bubela and two of her bridesmaids, Kathryn Kincel, Matt's cousin; and Sarah Bubela, her cousin. The refreshment table was centered with a large arrangement of white roses, snapdragons, carnations and spider mums. Guests enjoyed sandwiches, chips, a vegetable tray, assorted dips and cocktail shrimp with sauce. Lime sherbet punch and a two-layered cake made especially for Casey by her aunt Trudy Bubela, completed the menu. Special guests were Pam Laitkep, Casey's mom; Dorothea Bubela and Dorothy Graham, her grandmothers; Carol Wied, Matt' mother; and Elsie Kincel and Clara Wied, his grandmothers. Hostesses were Trudy Bubela, Johanna Bubela, Jessica Dunam, Sarah Bubela, Melissa Baker, Donna Janik, Carol Teague, Barbara Knudsen, Christine Richter and Carol Chovanec. Matt and Casey will exchange vows at 7 p.m., Saturday, June 7 aboard the Royal Princess II Yacht while cruising Galveston Bay. |
