Two radio roundtables give candidates chance to speak

El Campo area voters will have the chance to hear candidates' views live starting at noon today.

The seven El Campo City Council hopefuls are scheduled to take to the mikes during KULP Radio 1390 AM's first candidate roundtable discussion.

Incumbents Philip Spenrath and Kenneth Martin will square off with challengers Henry Dornak Jr., Otha Edison, Jimmy Roppolo, Tim Ryan and Richard Young.

In the city of El Campo, the top three vote-getters of all at-large candidates win the posts.

Media representatives from the El Campo Leader-News and KULP will present the questions. Each candidate will be given a time limit on the response.

Please look to Saturday's edition of the Leader-News for coverage.

In addition to the live broadcast, KULP will be recording the roundtable for future rebroadcast. At this time, no date or time has been scheduled.

A second roundtable featuring El Campo school board hopefuls is set for noon Thursday, May 1. In Position 6, incumbent Tommy Turner is facing challenger Paul Soechting while in Position 7, incumbent Dr. Melissa Kainer Erwin is facing Clayton Ryan.
