Police Blotter City Arrests Alcohol, drugs Heather Pollard Rodriguez, 35, of Matagorda was arrested at 9:22 a.m. Friday, April 25 on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, expired motor vehicle inspection certificate, no insurance and no seat belt and warrants for open container and littering. She remained in custody at presstime. Hershel Wayne Walker, 49, of 220 Palomar Road was arrested at 8:12 p.m. Friday, April 25 on a warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia while already in custody. He remained in custody at presstime. Matthew Sean Grier, 27, of 614 1/2 Ave. A was arrested at 2:29 a.m. Sunday, April 27 on charges of driving while intoxicated - second offense, driving while license invalid or revoked, no insurance and expired registration. He was transferred to Wharton County Jail the same day and held on $8,000 bond as of noon the next day. Property Rociel Ortiz, 54, of 508 S. Mechanic was arrested at 9:46 p.m. Friday, April 25 on charges of burglary of a vehicle and public intoxication. He was released the same day due to medical complications. He reportedly was in poor condition when police found him on Alamo Street, then had a heart attack before he could be booked. Ortiz was reportedly heavily brusied. He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston by Life Flight helicopter, where he was in critical condition as of presstime Tuesday afternoon. Since he is still in no condition to be interviewed, ECPD Chief Jim Elliott said Ortiz' case remains an open investigation until police can talk to him and find out what happened to him prior to their arrival. Violence, weapons Jose Anibal Perdomo, 36, of 1014 E. Calhoun was arrested at 12:50 a.m. Saturday, April 26 on a charge of assault family violence prior conviction, after allegedly tossing a television to the floor then knocking a woman to the ground while fighting at a trailer park. He was released at 3:15 p.m. the same day after posting $15,000 bond and paying $1,051 in fines. Adam Dave Abelar, 28, of 417 E. Watt was arrested at 12:38 a.m. Monday, April 28 on a charge of aggravated assault - family violence, after allegedly cutting a woman with a broken bottle while fighting in a motel room. He was held on $25,000 bond as of noon Monday, April 28. Other Rogelio Alejandro Garay, 21, of Columbus was arrested at 12:55 p.m. Thursday, April 24 on charges of failure to identify - fugitive from justice, no driver's license and speeding and warrants for no insurance and public intoxication. He was released at 4:20 p.m. the next day on $6,000 bond. Public intoxication: 2. City Incidents Property Julia Bram reported theft of a 1999 Honda worth $3,995 from the parking lot of The Alignment Shop, 709 S. Mechanic, between April 10 and April 24. The vehicle was recovered at the rice dryers at 500 E. Monseratte. Three people reported their vehicles were vandalized while at the El Campo Bowling Center, 806 West Loop. Albert Ray of Wharton reported an $80 tire was cut between 11:04 and 11:14 p.m. Friday, April 25. Jeremiah Shipley of Garwood reported a slashed tire worth $150 at the same time. Between 1:43 and 2:26 p.m. the next day, David Sless of Ganado reported someone dented the top of his vehicle, causing $1,000 in damage. County Jail Bookings Other Alexander Roger Smith, 31, of 1302 CR 232 in Glen Flora was booked at 4:50 p.m. Thursday, April 24 on a bench warrant. He was held without bond as of noon Monday, April 28. Jordan Hogan, 19, of 902 Rice was booked at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 25 on a motion to revoke bond. He was held without bond as of noon Monday, April 28.
