      El Campo sophomore Chris Quinn finished with a 169 at the regional golf tournament at Huntsville this past weekend.       It took Wharton ISD board members only 20 minutes Tuesday to name Stacey Hunt as the district's new athletic director and head football coach. The board posted an agenda Monday for the emergency meeting noon Tuesday.

LHS boys earn region finals slots

      Louise's boys took on the regional track meet this past weekend at Huntsville and qualified for the finals in two events. The 1,600-meter relay team and Daniel Sulak in the 400-meter dash made it out of the preliminary round and competed in the regional finals.

EC grad Heard takes Montgomery AD job

      A former Ricebird is stepping down from coaching and taking on a new area in athletics. Clint Heard, El Campo High School class of 1979, will make the move from head baseball coach to athletic director for Montgomery ISD in June.

Mustangs end EC's season with defeat
      El Campo's baseball team fell 7-1 in its final outing of the season to Lamar Consolidated at Rosenberg, April 25. El Campo came close to a score in the top of the second inning. With one out, Michael Van Gorp and Chase Bullard hit back-to-back singles.
