LHS boys earn region finals slots Louise's boys took on the regional track meet this past weekend at Huntsville and qualified for the finals in two events. The 1,600-meter relay team and Daniel Sulak in the 400-meter dash made it out of the preliminary round and competed in the regional finals. Head Coach Josh Quebe said the Hornets had potential for better results, but praised the boys' efforts. "I feel like we could have run better," Quebe said. "As a team, I think the team ran well, especially on our 1,600-meter) relay. We stepped up and ran a 3:36 and that's probably six to seven seconds faster than we've ever run before. They did a great job of getting to the finals." Though the Hornets did not qualify for the state track meet, the recent trip to regionals, and particularly the finals, were indicative of a strong track season. "We had a very successful track season this year," Quebe said. "We had a lot of guys step up. Daniel Sulak stepped up. He ran very well all year and better than anybody around here thought he was going to, I'm sure. Jay Sulak stepped in and ran events he doesn't normally run. He's more of a distance person and we've molded him into a long-distance runner. "Clint Barrera gave it his all in every race that he ran. Chris Hicks stepped in and went to regionals in the mile really and also in the triple jump. He jumped 40 (feet) and he hadn't jumped a 40 all year long until the area and regional meet."
