Chesney English

Chesney Rayne English, daughter of Percy and Bridget English, was baptized Sunday, May 4, 2008 at St. John's Catholic Church in Taiton. Deacon Edward Wendel performed the sacrament of baptism.

Chesney's godparents are Jason and Stacy Ermis. She wore a white gown.

A reception followed at her parent's home. Sandwiches, chips, dips and cake were served.

Special guests were Mark and Janel English, grandparents; J.P. and Marjorie English, great-grandparents and Paisley English, her sister.

Chesney received a cross that read: "Amen" and a child's first Bible from her godparents and money from her Granny and PaPa English (Margorie and J.P.).

Mason Cortez

Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Cortez of El Campo announce the birth of their third child, a son named Mason Lyle Cortez. The baby was born at 12:09 p.m., April 29, 2008 at DeTar North Hospital in Victoria, weighing 9 pounds, 6 ounces.

He is welcomed home by sisters Makenzie, age 5; and Madisyn, age 3.

Maternal grandparents are James and Frieda Brazeale of Brooks, Ga. Paternal grandparents are Arthur and Delia Cortez of El Campo.

Great-grandparent is Anita Delgado of Victoria.

The mother is the former Stephanie Brazeale.

Nolan Poncik

Dustin Poncik and Ashley Bartek of El Campo announce the birth of their first child, a son named Nolan Andrew Poncik. The baby was born at 4:01 p.m., April 9, 2008 at Matagorda County General Hospital in Bay City, weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces.

Maternal grandparents are Frank and Margaret Cox of El Campo and Jimmy and Lynn Watson of Damon. Paternal grandparents are Ronnie and Anita Poncik of El Campo and Karen and Garland Novosad of Wharton.

Great-grandparents are Clinton and Edith Poncik of El Campo, Johnnie and Darlene Byrd of Wharton and T.L. and Delores Watson of El Campo.
