SPJST youth group elects officers

The May meeting of SPJST Lodge 30, Taiton Youth Club was held Tuesday, April 29 at Mr. Gatti's and was called to order by President Kenna Bubela.

Danielle Zalman led members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. The roll call of officers and members and the reading of the minutes was done by Secretary Steven Drapela.

The treasurer's report was given by Danielle Zalman. Members were reminded that dues are payable for the new year and are $1.50 per member.

Old Business: Leaders-In- Training camp will be held on June 6-8 at Forest Glen. District 6 Camp is June 27- 29 at Stoney Creek Ranch in Columbus.

Election of officers was held with Allison Fucik and Sarah Supak as the nominating committee. The officers elected for 2008 - 09 are as follows: President - Steven Drapela, Vice President - Stephanie Fucik, 1st Vice President - Gerard Marcaurele, Secretary - Jessica Fucik, Assistant Secretary - Allison Fucik, Treasurer - Kenna Bubela, Assistant Treasurer - Vincent Lutringer, Reporter - Sarah Supak, Flag Bearers - Donovan Krpec and Dylan Treumer and Sergeant at Arms - Jeremey Supak, Jacob Supak and Ryan Drapela.

New Business: Thank yous were given to all who came to clean the highway.

Discussion was held on giving a donation to a family in need. A motion was made by Ryan Drapela to donate $100 to a family whose house was destroyed by fire and seconded by Steven Drapela. The motion was carried.

Youth Leaders Report: Youth Leader Lisa Bubela discussed the district outing.

Bubela reported on the changes to the merit point system for the upcoming year.

The next meeting will be June at the Taiton Community Center at 2:30 p.m. A graduation social was then held for seniors. Pizza, pasta and salad was served from the buffet.
