Edwin Rowton

Edwin (Andy) Rowton, 77, of Weimar, formerly of El Campo, died Friday, April 25, 2008.

He was born April 3, 1931 in Mineral Springs, Ark. to Hester Lee Wilson and Daniel Rowton. Mr. Rowton was a sergeant in the Army from Sept. 27, 1950 through Sept. 26, 1952. He was a past member of El Campo Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, American Legion and helped start Crime Stoppers in Wharton County.

Mr. Rowton lived in El Campo 16 years.

Survivors include his wife Patricia Schmeer Rowton of Weimar; sons, Eddy and wife Joyce Rowton of Houston and Lucas and Sara Rowton of Grand Rapids, Mich.; daughters, Kay and husband E.H. Spillers of Shreveport, La., Christie Rowton of Weimar and Kathryn and Mike Sharp of Weimar; brother, Elvin Rowton of West Monroe, La.; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 29 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jon Siemsglusz officiating. Burial followed at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Dwiggins, Kevin Schimcek, Joseph Schimcek, Tommy Schimcek, Wayne Fleck and Leonard Schimcek.
