At the Isaacson Municipal Utility District, all three incumbents were re-elected during Saturday's election, although voter turnout was modest at best.
Joe Juroska Jr., with 27 votes, Floyd Fisher with 20 votes and Floyd Shimek, who garnered 27 votes, all will return to the board. Challenger Brenda George received 9 votes.
IMUD ballots were cast at the district's North Liberty Street office, and a total of 29 votes were cast: 18 during early voting and 11 on Election Day.
On Monday night, the board met and canvassed the votes, then swore in the three re-elected directors to join Larry Popp and Tom Welfel on the fivemember board that manages the utility district.
Shimek then nominated Fisher to continue as board president, and Popp to serve as vice president, and both moves were approved. Popp nominated Shimek to take the role of board secretary and that motion passed as well.
Fisher said although voter turnout was low, he was pleased with the tone of the election.
"It's one of the least controversial elections in Wharton County," he said. "There were no signs put out, no bickering, no arguing, Ms. George ran a very straight campaign, along with myself and everyone else. I'm proud of that for our district and the people that live there, because I guess the people in our little district show some respect for one another."
He thanked all who voted, and encouraged residents of the district, which skirts the eastern border of the El Campo city limits, to visit with board members at any time to share ideas or ask questions.
"We're looking for good things in the future," he said.
