Free Veterans Housing Seminar A free Veterans Housing Seminar is Saturday, May 17 in Bay City at the Lions Club Teen Center, 600 12th, next to Legacy Nursing Home. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The seminar starts at 10 a.m. Sponsored by the Texas Veterans Land Board, Texas Veterans Commission and the Matagorda County Teen Court Program. Racing For A Cure Relay for Life and NASCAR team up to raise awareness today at the Hungerford Community Hall. Sample some great barbecue and enjoy the booths and games outside. Booths open at 11:30 a.m. The awards ceremony starts at 5 p.m. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society and go towards the 10th Annual Relay For Life of Wharton County in October 2008. ECHS Choir Variety Show The El Campo High School Choir hosts its annual High School Choir Variety Show Tuesday, May 20 at 7 p.m. at the high school auditorium. The free show is called "It Can Happen in a Show."

Baked Potato/Chopped BBQ Fundraiser Relay For Life fundraiser is Tuesday, May 20 from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. at Staffs Food Service. Baked potato with chopped barbecue is $6 per plate. American Legion and Auxiliary Meeting American Legion Craig-Harriss Post 251 and its Ladies Auxiliary hold their regular monthly meeting Tuesday, May 20 in the new hall beginning with a social at 6:30 p.m. and a 7:15 p.m. meal. Auxiliary members are asked to bring desserts.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 21

PGMBC Pre-Anniversary Revival Schedule A pre-anniversary revival is Wednesday, May 21 through Thursday, May 23 at 7 p.m. with guest speaker, the Rev. Wayne Hewitt. A musical is Saturday, May 24 at 6 p.m. Entertainment by choir groups, soloists, male choirs and praise dancers. Sunday, May 25 is the 17th anniversary for the pastor and his wife at 3 p.m. Special guest will be BrookHaven Baptist Church and Congregational speaker, the Rev. O.D. Brown of Houston.

Louise Athletic Physicals For 2008-2009 Louise holds athletic physicals May 21 at 3 p.m. in the high school gym. All athletes entering the 7th, 9th, or 11th grades must have a physical before they can participate in athletics. Baylor Sports Medicine will be conducting physicals for $12 Pay at the time of the physical. For questions call Mark Stevens at 979-648-2202 ext. 307.

EC Athletic Physicals For 2008-2009 Physicals for athletes for 7th, 9th and 11th grades are mandatory. Anyone injured this school year must get another physical. Physicals will be given at the high school weight room Wednesday, May 21 for $20. Girls at 4 p.m. and boys at 5 p.m. Scholarships are available, see Doc Stogner or Coach Gillis. Bingo For Seniors Play bingo with other seniors with prizes and refreshments furnished by Garden Villa Nursing Home. Bingo is Thursday, May 22 from 12:30-2 p.m. at the WCJC El Campo Senior Center, 1303 Delta in Wharton.

Northside Host 5th Grade Science Fair 5th Grade Science Fair is Thursday, May 22 from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Friday, May 23 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. for public viewing of projects. For more information contact Carol Turner at 541-9763.

Middle School Choir Concert The El Campo Middle School Choirs host their Spring Concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 22 at the middle school cafeteria. The choir will perform the music review Dateline Rock and Roll. Admission is free.

Basketball Tournament/Slam Dunk Contest A 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament and Slam Dunk Contest is Saturday, May 24 at the Bay City Junior High School. Registration is Thursday, May 22. 'Bikers For Brains' Scholarship Fun Run Saturday, May 24 the Prairie Switch Riders host a Motorcycle Fun Run benefiting scholarships for graduates of Wharton County. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at Muldoon's in El Campo. Last bike out at 10:30 a.m. All bikes and vehicles welcome. Proceeds benefit Wharton County High School scholarships. Book and Gift Sale El Campo Memorial Hospital Sunshine Ladies host a twoday book and gift sale Wednesday, May 28 from 10 a.m. -6 p.m. and Thursday, May 29 from 8 a.m. -3 p.m. New this year is the "Love to Shop" coupon program: If you buy two books, you get a $10 coupon for online purchases. If you buy three books, you get two $10 coupons for online purchases and for four or more books, you get three $10 coupons.

Ricebird Boosters Raise Scholarship $$ The Ricebird Booster Club is selling raffle tickets to help its scholarship fund. Last year, the booster club raised enough money to award scholarships to every athlete who applied and hopes to do the same this year. Tickets are $20 each and go toward 17 prizes. 500 tickets will be sold. The drawing is June 14 at the Booster Club Golf Tournament. Emergency Number For Garwood VFD Starting June 16 you will no long be able to reach the Garwood Volunteer Fire Department and ambulance by dialing 758-3500, due to changes in the AT&T system. All emergencies should be reported by dialing 911.

Raffle Tickets For Hubenak Fundraiser Raffle tickets are now available with 10 prizes: Nine guns and one rechargeable flashlight. Tickets are $20 each. Winners will be drawn the day of the event, Aug. 6 at the KC Hall in El Campo after a free stew dinner and live auction. All proceeds will go to the family to help defray the medical expenses of cystic fibrosis.

Account Set Up For Logan Stehno A bank account has been set up at First State Bank of Louise for Logan Stehno. Donations can be dropped off or mailed to P.O. Box 5, Louise, TX 77455. A benefit has been scheduled for Saturday, June 28 at Muldoon's. Barbecue chicken plates-to-go or dine in from 4:30-6:30 p.m., live auction at 7:30 p.m. and raffle drawing following auction.
