KJZT 72 Meeting KJZT 72 meets Tuesday, June 10 at 6 p.m. at the St. Philip Parish youth house. Members are urged to attend as plans will be made for the district meeting to be held July 13 in El Campo.

WCJC Information Session WCJC representatives will be at Northside Education Center Tuesday, June 10. Julie Aaronson, director of student recruiting and George Lehnert, financial aid counselor, will visit with prospective students from 4-6 p.m. No appointment needed.

Father's Day Bake Sale The Lifesavers Relay For Life team hosts a Father's Day bake sale Friday, June 13 in the lobby of Mid Coast Medical Center, from 8 a.m. until sold out. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.

EC Library Summer Reading Programs Registration for the El Campo Branch Library's Summer Reading programs, "Texas Reading Jubilee: 1958-2008" for ages 6 months to 10 and "Game On! Texas Teens Read!" for ages 11 to 18. Children under age 10 must be registered by an adult. The library has a number of free activities for all ages. Louise Branch Library Summer Program The Louise Branch Library has a summer program for children 6 months to 18 years are invited to register. Schedules are available at the library. For information call 979-648-2018.

EC Bowling Center Summer Program Youth bowling starts Wednesday, June 18, held every Wednesday at 1 p.m. All skill levels are welcome. Ages 4-7, $5 weekly and ages 8 and up, $7 weekly. A summer bowling card for $10 can be used all summer long. One free game every weekday of the summer. Valid Monday- Friday, 11 a.m. -5 p.m., June 1-Aug. 31. Aquatic Swimming Pool Hours The pool is open Tuesday through Friday from 6 a.m.- noon and 1-8 p.m.; Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1-6 p.m. It is closed on Mondays. Red Wave swims from 8-11 a.m., and swimming lessons start June 10. Aerobics are Tuesday and Thursday at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. and arthritis classes on Wednesday and Friday are at 8 a.m. For information call 543-1468.

Louise School Library Open The Louise School Library is open during June on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m.-noon for the public during this time. Students can earn Accelerated Reading points, with prizes awarded to all students based on their total points.

FBC Louise Summer Youth Program The First Baptist Church of Louise's summer youth RESCUE program offers food, fun and fellowship, organized activities, field trips, VBS, REC and more every Sunday at 6 p.m. for kids in grades 7-12. The focus is on relationships, service and community this summer.

Louise ISD Summer Feed Program Louise ISD holds a free summer feeding program for breakfast and lunch, at no cost to anyone up to age 18, Louise student or not. Adults may eat for $2.75. EC Mennonite Host Summer VBS Summer Vacation Bible School at El Campo Mennonite Church, 2605 West Loop is June 9-20, weekday evenings from 6-8:45 p.m. for ages 5-14 years. Everyone is welcome. Ricebird Boosters Raise Scholarship $$ The Ricebird Booster Club is selling raffle tickets to help its scholarship fund. Last year, the booster club raised enough money to award scholarships to every athlete who applied and hopes to do the same this year. Tickets are $20 each and go toward 17 prizes. 500 tickets will be sold. The drawing is Saturday, June 14 at the Booster Club Golf Tournament. American Legion & Auxiliary Meeting American Legion Craig-Harriss Post 251 and its Ladies Auxiliary hold their regular monthly meeting Tuesday, June 17. Social at 6:30 p.m. and meal at 7:15. Auxiliary members are asked to bring desserts.

Beef And Forages Committee Scholarship The Wharton County Beef and Forages Committee is taking applications for its scholarship. One $2,000 scholarship will be awarded and paid over two semesters. To be eligible, a student must have completed at least 60 credit hours or be enrolled in a graduate or veterinary school program. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in an agriculturally related field. Applications may be picked up at the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Wharton County office or online at http://wharton-tx.tamu.edu. Applications are due Tuesday, July 1. Raffle Tickets For Hubenak Fundraiser Raffle tickets are now available with 10 prizes: Nine guns and one rechargeable flashlight. Tickets are $20 each. WCJC Summer Hours Wharton County Junior College summer hours are through Aug. 15 at all campus and extension center locations. The WCJC Foundation 2008 Gala The Wharton County Junior Foundation 2008 Gala is Friday, Aug. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Safari Texas Ranch in Richmond. Tickets are $85 each. Spay/Neuter Assistance Available The Matagorda County SPCA has a program covering Wharton, Jackson, Matagorda and the southern part of Colorado County to help people who can't afford to spay/neuter their dogs/cats. Veterans Service Officer Hours The office of Wharton County Veterans Service Officer Harvey H. Stelzel Jr. is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays through June 18.
