Tractor Pull Benefits DAV

Fourth Annual Ricebelt Tractor Pull starts today and continues Sunday next to the American Legion off Highway 71 South. The pull starts at 10 a.m. A parade of tractors will be held at 1 p.m. A Kiddy Pull for ages 3-8 will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at 11 a.m. is a "fun pull" for newcomers and beginners. At 1 p.m. Sunday is a new event, a lawnmower pull. Craft show is free. Pull admission is $5 (chiildren under 12 free). Parking free.

Celebrate Juneteenth Today The annual Juneteenth Parade will start today (the fourteenth) at 11 a.m. The Juneteenth Ladies Community welcome all children to Willie Bell Park at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 14 for free hot dogs, drinks and hamburgers, to celebrate the occasion of Juneteenth.

Infant And Child CPR Class Infant and child CPR class Tuesday, June 17 will cover rescue breathing, choking and CPR skills for a cost of $22. Certifications for CPR classes are valid for one year. Registration is payable by check or money order and must accompany the application and be received by the chapter no later than 48 hours prior to start of the class. Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp The Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp 2105 of Wharton County will honor a Confederate veteran buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery on Sunday, June 22 at 2 p.m. The ceremony is open to the public.

E.A. Greer School Reunion Registration E.A. Greer School Reunion registration is $40 per person until Monday, June 23. At the door will be $50. SUMMER YOUTH ACTIVITIES

EC Library Summer Reading Programs Registration for the El Campo Branch Library's Summer Reading programs, "Texas Reading Jubilee: 1958-2008" for ages 6 months to 10 and "Game On! Texas Teens Read!" for ages 11 to 18. Children under age 10 must be registered by an adult. The library has a number of free activities for all ages. Summer schedules are available at the library at 200 W. Church. For information call 543-2362.

Louise Branch Library Summer Program The Louise Branch Library has a summer program for children 6 months to 18 years are invited to register. Schedules are available at the library. For information call 979-648-2018.

Silver Wings Summer Program The local skating rink also has programs designed for students this summer. Free skates come with a regular admission, all summer! Day Care skating is Thursdays from 9-11 a.m., Christian Music Skate Nights are Thursdays from 7-10 p.m. Regular skate sessions are Friday from 7-10 p.m., Saturdays from 2-5 p.m. and Sundays from 2-5 p.m. Admission is $7. Aquatic Center Summer Hours The pool is open Tuesday through Friday from 6 a.m.- noon and 1-8 p.m.; Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1-6 p.m. It is closed on Mondays. Red Wave swims from 8-11 a.m., and swimming lessons start June 10. Aerobics are Tuesday and Thursday at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. and arthritis classes on Wednesday and Friday are at 8 a.m. For information call 543-1468.

Louise School Library Open The Louise School Library is open during June on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m.-noon for the public during this time. Students can earn Accelerated Reading points, with prizes awarded to all students based on their total points.

FBC Louise Summer Youth Program The First Baptist Church of Louise's summer youth RESCUE program offers food, fun and fellowship, organized activities, field trips, VBS, REC and more every Sunday at 6 p.m. for kids in grades 7-12. The focus is on relationships, service and community this summer.

Louise ISD Summer Feed Program Louise ISD holds a free summer feeding program for breakfast and lunch, at no cost to anyone up to age 18, Louise student or not. Adults may eat for $2.75. Mennonite Church Summer VBS Summer Vacation Bible School held at El Campo Mennonite Church, 2605 West Loop, June 9-20, weekday evenings from 6-8:45 p.m. for ages 5-14 years. Everyone is welcome. FUMC Sunday Afternoon Piano Concert Back by popular demand, First United Methodist Church will present a Sunday Afternoon Concert Series featuring Ted Lashley, music director of FUMC, and Victor Flowers, band director of Baily Middle School of Spring in a two-piano concert. Performance is Sunday, June 29 at 3 p.m. Admission is free. The concert will feature new and old favorites, hymns and a few surprises. Lashley and Flowers performed at FUMC previously, and church members want to share their talent with the community.

Lifesavers Relay Host BBQ Fundraiser Pick up Lifesavers barbecue plates Tuesday, June 24 from 5-6:30 p.m. at Country Pride. Tickets available at Mid Coast Medical Clinic. Barbecued brisket, sausage and trimmings with banana pudding for $7 a plate. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.

Beef And Forages Committee Scholarship The Wharton County Beef and Forages Committee is taking applications for its scholarship. One $2,000 scholarship will be awarded and paid over two semesters. To be eligible, a student must have completed at least 60 credit hours or be enrolled in a graduate or veterinary school program. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in an agriculturally related field. Applications may be picked up at the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Wharton County office or online at http://wharton-tx.tamu.edu. Applications are due Tuesday, July 1.
